Tattoo Removal

**CONSULTATION REQUIRED BEFORE PROCEDURE**
Q SWITCHED Nd: YAG LASER FOR TATTOO REMOVAL is aimed at the ink particles under the skin which in turn breaks the ink down into smaller particles. The body then absorbs and flushes these particles out through the lymphatic system.

The sensation of the Nd; Yag laser tattoo removal is often described as a small rubber band being snapped onto the skin. Most clients tolerate this sensation well and the discomfort goes away directly after the treatment.

Treatment Duration varies due to the different sizes of tattoos. Treatments can take between 15 minutes to 30 minutes. We can best determine this in your initial consultation.

Some pigments will not respond to treatment, especially modern, pastel, white or ultra-vivid pigments may respond by turning brown or black. These residues then may, or may not respond to further treatment.

What to expect

During the removal process, the laser will heat up ink particles in your skin, which can cause tiny blood vessels to break around the tattoo. As a result, superficial blisters containing water and ink may appear. In fact, blisters are quite normal and an indication that the healing process has begun.
Apply a cool compress as needed for twenty four hours after the procedure to reduce tenderness and inflammation. Taking Tylenol is advisable, but not aspirin as it increases the chances of bleeding or bruising. Do not pop or burst blisters as that increases chances of infection.

What can you not do after tattoo removal?

Refrain from Alcohol and Smoking. Avoid alcohol and smoking during the tattoo removal aftercare process to keep your body in optimal health. Alcohol can inhibit your liver and kidneys' ability to flush out the ink particles from your body. It can also cause dehydration, which slows the healing process.

What's the hardest tattoo color to remove?

No single laser can remove all tattoo colors. Different dyes respond to different light wavelengths. Black and dark green are the easiest colors to remove; yellow, purple, turquoise and fluorescent dyes are hardest to fade.

How many sessions does it take to remove a tattoo?

Laser tattoo removal looks different for everyone since each person and their tattoo is unique. Although it is not possible to predict the number of sessions required for complete removal, most people generally need 8 – 12 sessions. To make sure the skin heals properly in between each session, our technician schedules appointments 6 – 8 weeks apart. The average tattoo takes about twelve months to get rid of, so we ask clients to plan accordingly.
